Taking medications, exactly as prescribed 100% of the time (adherence), is challenging regardless of HIV status. For people who are HIV+, the challenge of adherence is further complicated by social, economic and cultural factors.
Missing doses of antiretroviral therapy (ART) can give the virus a chance to mutate. Viral mutation can have devastating consequences, allowing the virus to outsmart the treatment.
Our AIDS Certified Registered Nurses (ACRN) work one-to-one, with patients, helping them to understand ART treatment and treatment options. With the support of an ACRN, patients can develop a successful strategy that will minimize viral mutation by maximizing adherence.
You are not required to be enrolled in our HIV case management services in order to participate in treatment adherence services. Anyone who is HIV+, and would like support in order to maximize the benefits of HIV treatment, may receive this service.
